SOUTH BEND, IN - Sandra Kay Gildner, 75, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in the Holy Cross Village of Notre Dame. Sandy was born March 8, 1943 in South Bend, to the late Albert and Helen (Mezosi) DeMeyer. Sandy married Dennis Landuyt in 1963 and Larry Gildner in 1968. Both preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her mother & father-in-law, Richard and Martha Gildner. Survivors of Sandy include her children: Gary (Jacki) Landuyt and Dennis (Stacey) Landuyt; Mark (Julie) Gildner and Suzanne (Stan) Balcom; brother, Albert (Kris) DeMeyer; grandchildren, Katlyn, Kyle, Cole, Zack, Kelsey, Zoie, Amanda, Ryan, Gabe, Lauren, Claire, Jenna, and Sarah; and 10 great-grandchildren. Sandy earned her Masters Degree in Education from IUSB. She retired from Warren Elementary School after 33 years of teaching, in 2007. Sandy was a member of the NEA for retired teachers, and a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. Sandy dedicated her life to her family. She especially enjoyed traveling to visit and spend time with her family. Sandy was a compassionate, generous, loving person as shown by her countless friendships. Visitation for Sandra will be 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Sunday, December 9, 2018 at ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Ceremony will take place at 10:00 am on Monday, December 10, 2018 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Lane, South Bend, IN 46637; or Riley Children's Hospital, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
