SOUTH BEND - Robert C. Marnocha, 86, passed away peacefully at 1:10 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009. They say as one life ends another begins. Bob passed and twenty-three minutes later he guided his great-granddaughter Jocelyn into the world. Robert was born on November 22, 1923, in South Bend, to the late Ignatius Antoinette (Jagla) Marnocha. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Eleanore Tajkowski and Joan Marnocha; three brothers, Harry, Raymond and Eugene; and by his great-granddaughter, Peyton Hiatt. On June 7, 1947, in South Bend, he married Geraldine (Tobolski), who survives along with their two daughters, Deborah (James) Perry and Karen (Steve) Lang, both of South Bend; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Jim) Bishop of Jersey City, NJ, Melinda (Todd) Hiatt of Mishawaka, Jaimee Perry, Robyn Lang, Robert (Adrianne) Lang and Brieann Lang, all of South Bend; eight great-grandchildren, Dominic, Rey, Kiarrah, Gracie and Noah Bishop of Jersey City, NJ, Jocelyn Hiatt of Mishawaka, Sean Capplinger and Tim Lang of South Bend. Robert was a parishioner of St. Casimir Catholic Church where he was a member of the Married Men's Club and Senior Citizens Club. He served his country in the United States Army during WW II Pacific Theatre Operations. He was proud to be a member of American Legion Post 357. Robert enjoyed gardening, traveling, dancing and playing Euchre. Family and friends may gather on January 9, 2010, in St. Casimir Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Entombment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. Grandpa...
