Leo C. Walkowiak, 81, of 426 S. Walnut St., died at 7pm Monday in St Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Walkowiak retired from the Studebaker Corp after 40 years of service. He was born April 24, 1906, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. On May 2, 1928, in South Bend, he married Mary Micinski, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Cecilia Strominski of South Bend; a son, Donald of South Bend; a grandchild; and a great grandchild. Services will be at 10am Thursday at St Casimir's Catholic Church. Burial will be at St Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9pm Wednesday at Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, where the parish rosary will be said at 7:30pm. He was the oldest member of Sons of American Legion Squadron 50.
