James Nevorski

MISHAWAKA - James Nevorski, 76, of East 8th Street, Mishawaka, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 4th, at Center for Hospice, Elkhart, following an illness. He was born in Michigan City, Indiana, on June 15, 1935, to Leonard and Anita (Lambka) Nevorski, who both preceded him in death. On October 12th, 1961, in LaMesa, California, he married the former Sandra Sue Spence. She survives with two children, Audra (Michael) Hershberger and Eric Nevorski, both of Mishawaka. Six grandchildren, Jamie Sue, Alexander, Anthony, Nicholas, Davis and Karenna. Five nieces and nephews, Rick, Linda, James, Ronda and Renee'. One brother, Ronald (Diane) Nevorski, also survives. Mr. Nevorski was a salesman, and later a maintenance engineer at Ivy Tech of South Bend, retiring after 16 years. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, serving from 1954 until his retirement in 1962 under honorable conditions. At the time of his retirement, he had attained the rank of sergeant. He was a life member of the American Legion, Post #161, and the VFW Post #360 where he served on the Burial Squad. He was also a life member of the Marine Corps League. He was a usher for 22 years and a junior captain usher for two years at Notre Dame. He graduated from Isaac C. Elston High School in 1954. He attended Ivy Tech in South Bend. The family would like to thank Jill Fowler and Pam Williams for the loving care given to James during his illness, and also extends thanks to the staff at Michiana Oncology Hematology, with special thanks to Dr. Bilal Ansari. Funeral services for James will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, where friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday. Officiating will be Pastor Leonard Jepson. The family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Center for Hospice or to American Legion Post #161
