Melvin Leighty.
Melvin Leighty, aged 66, of 1225 South 30th street, died at 2 a.m. today in Epworth hospital after four years' illness with diabetes. He was born in Kosciusko county, Indiana, Nov. 24, 1874, and resided here 23 years. He was married in 1901 to Miss Nancy Elizabeth Rearrick, who survives. He leaves also four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Latham, Mrs. Ethel Feltes and Evelyn and Doris Leighty, all of South Bend; a son, Dale Leighty, of South Bend, and two brothers, Charles Leighty, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Albert Leighty, of Mishawaka. Friends may call at the Earl C. Hollis funeral home until the funeral there at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. H. F. Richards, pastor of the First Church of the Brethren, will officiate. Burial will be in Union cemetery, Marshall county, Indiana. Published in The South Bend Tribune, Nov 7, 1941
