SOUTH BEND - Phyllis Dhaene Rzepka, age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2015. Phyllis was born on February 26, 1932, in South Bend, Indiana, to Clarice (Coppieters) and Frank Dhaene. She graduated from Washington High School in 1949 and remained very active in arranging class reunions. She and Bernard (Jake) W. Rzepka were married on January 13, 1951, at Sacred Heart Church, South Bend, Indiana. They were married for 61 years. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Jake (December 2011), her son, Michael (July 2011), and her daughter-in-law, Cherilynn (August 2012). Phyllis is survived by her sister, Emma Ciesielski (Casimir, deceased); and sons, Mark (Cherilynn, deceased) Rzepka of Florida and Gary (Teresa) Rzepka; and daughter-in-law, Sandra (Michael, deceased) Rzepka, all of South Bend. She is also survived by granddaughter, Bridget Murray; great-grandchildren, Roemello and Brianna Murray; nieces, Pamela Horvath and Carol Ciesielski, MD; and great-niece, Angela Horvath, PhD. Arrangements are being handled by the Kaniewski Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with service at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 8. A private burial will be held the next day at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Phyllis requested that donations be made to Center for Hospice, St. Joseph County Humane Society or to Pet Refuge.
