Dec. 3, 1930 - Dec. 21, 2011 SOUTH BEND - Bernard W. "Jake" Rzepka, 81, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011. Jake was born December 3, 1930, in New Carlisle, Indiana, to Lott and Josephine (Jurgonski) Rzepka. He had been employed with Studebaker for seven years and with Uniroyal for 33 years, retiring in 1988. On January 13, 1951, Jake married Phyllis A. Dhaene, who survives. Surviving with his wife, Phyllis Rzepka; are sons, Mark (Cheri) Rzepka of South Bend, Indiana, Gary (Teresa) Rzepka of South Bend, Indiana; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Rzepka of South Bend, Indiana. A son, Michael, preceded him in death on July 18, 2011. Also surviving are grandchildren, Bridget, Anastasia, Kelly, Michael, Autumn, Keith, Kevin; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Adeline Solmos of South Bend, Indiana; brothers, Clem Rzepka of South Bend, Indiana, and Norbert (Elaine) Rzepka of Niles, Michigan; and sisters-in-law, Betty Rzepka of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Eleanor Rzepka of South Bend, Indiana. Sisters, Clara Rzepka, Henrietta Bazyk, Irene Wojcik, and brothers, Henry and David Rzepka, all preceded him in death. Visitation will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where funeral services will take place at 6:30 p.m. Jake was known as the handyman of Copperfield Villas and was a blood donor for over 40 years.
