Caterina was born in Filadelfia, Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy to Fedili & Barbara Se(a)rratore Mazzotta. Her siblings were Concetta Mazzotta Se(a)rratore, Barbara Mazzotta Se(a)ttatore, Fedele, Francisco "Frank" Mazzotta, Anna Mazzotta,Philip Mazzotta & Vincent Mazzotta. Caterina Catherine was married to Francesco "Frank" Frucci on August 08, 1922 in Filadelfia, Italy. They became the parents of Anna and Antonio "Tony" Frucci. As a young man - Frank had visited Niles, MI when he had to make an emergency trip to make burial arrangements for his Father - Antonio who had died as a result of injuries - having been run-over by a train while working in the rail yards. Frank found employment - later joining the American Army - Was gassed and hospitalized for two years. He returned home - married - had two children - Then returned to Niles to prepare for his young family to join him. Catherine and the children arrived in May of 1930. There would be two more children - Barbara and Carmella. They resided among other Italian relatives and families that had come from the same town in Italy. Catherine's brother - Vincenzo Mazzotta arrived in Niles in 1955 - The first she had seen any of her family in 18 years. His wife and two children arrived in 1958 to also make Niles their home. Frank passed away in 1984 at the age of 90yrs 1mo - Catherina had passed in 1975 at 70 1/2 years of age. They are interred in the Frucci Plot at Calvary Cemetery.
