Janis Christi Gumm, 74, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 in Creekside Village. Janis was born on December 23, 1947 in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri to Clopha Mozell and Barbara Gayle (Gentzsch) McGowan. She retired from the Whirlpool Corporation. Janis is survived by her daughter, Kelli Gumm of New Carlisle, Indiana; two grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Gumm of Oak Park, Illinois and Mercedes (Jeffrey) Jurczak of Buchanan, Michigan; three great-grandchildren, Michele Orozco, Lucey Marie Jurczak and Sawyer Matthew Jurczak; three sisters, Karen Dawn (Patrick) Potter of Eldon, Missouri, Patty (Mark) Harville of Indianapolis, Indiana and Kathy McGowan of Boulder, Nevada; and one brother, Rick McGowan of Saugany Lake, Indiana. Janis was preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Gumm; her brother, Fred McGowan; and her longtime companion of 43 years, Tim Sinka. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. E.S.T. Saturday, November 12, 2022 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, Indiana. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. E.S.T.
