SOUTH BEND - Robert W. Levendoski, 84, of South Bend, passed away Wednesday November 10, 2010, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. He was born October 29, 1926, in Michigan City, IN, to the late Joseph William and Myrtle (Jankowski) Levendoski. On August 18, 1951, he married Mary Jane Surowiec, who preceded him in death on February 9, 2009. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Marcia, Dorothy and Irene; and by four brothers, John, Jerry, Paul and Dan. He is survived by his two daughters, Jane M. (Paul) Bock of Naperville, IL and Joan C. (David) Potts of Lexington, KY; four sons, David W. (Wanda) of South Bend, Robert J. (Korinne) of Mansfield, OH, Richard M. of Columbus, OH and Joseph W. (Anne) of New Berlin, WI; 12 grandchildren, Deanne, Bethany, Thomas, Eileen, Christopher, Sara, Rachel, Marissa, Michaela, Melissa, Catherine and Claire; a great-grandson, Kingston William; two step-grandchildren, Amber Henderson and Chris Dionne; two step great-grandchildren, Lucas and Lydia; and by a brother, Joseph (Marilyn) of LaPorte, IN. Mr. Levendoski worked as the manager of Firestone Tires for 29 years, before retiring in 1985. He was a parishioner of Christ the King and St. Hedwig Catholic Churches. Robert was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Pulaski Post #357. Robert enjoyed listening to Polka Party on Sunday mornings, especially because his oldest son, David, hosted the program. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts football fan and loved watching them play on Sunday afternoons. Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday November 14, 2010, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday November 15, 2010, in Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 SR 933 N.
