SOUTH BEND - Stephen H. Papoi, 85, of South Bend, died Monday, March 27, 2017, at Wellbrooke of South Bend. The South Bend native was born March 24, 1932, to Stephen and Clara (Lyczynski) Papoi, who have both preceded him in death. On January 5, 1951, Stephen married Phyllis Baker, who preceded him in death in 1986. Stephen enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Stephen is survived by his children, Jeffrey Papoi of Lakeville, Karen (Jeff) Andrzejewski of Urbana, IL, Stephanie Papoi of South Bend; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis; son, Preston Gregory Papoi; granddaughter, Rene Papoi; brother, Ray Papoi; and a sister, Joyce Holmes. Private family services are planned at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family's preferred memorial is to Heartland Hospice, 230 West Catalpa Drive, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
