Walter "Tat" Bozenski

SOUTH BEND - Walter "Tat" Bozenski of South Bend passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members, shortly after 9 am on Friday, November 28th at Memorial Hospital. Tat was born on April 5, 1920 in South Bend to the late Stanislaw and Mary Bozenski. His brother Edward, and sister Florence preceded him in death. On October 14, 1941 he married his sweetheart, June Rohlfs of Sumnerville, MI, who survives. Tat is also survived by daughters, Pamela (Frank) Nowicki of Lewisburg, PA and Valerie (Dean) Hartke of South Bend; five grandchildren, Grace Hartke of South Bend, Daniel (Jackie) Nowicki of Wilnot, NH, Bryan (Tricia) Nowicki of Sun Prairie, WS, Terry (Stacey) Nowicki of LeMont, PA, and Nancy (Ray) Adams of Harrisburg, PA, and nine great-grandchildren. A third daughter, Cynthia (Craig) Ridout preceded him in death. Tat was an extremely talented sign painter for most of his working-life, and his work adorned many local businesses. He served his country honorably in the United States Army Air Corps. during WWll and was an usher at Notre Dame stadium from his return after the war until 1998, only missing two home games in that time. He often carried a deck of cards with him just in case a Euchre game should break out. Tat loved his family deeply and was a respected member of Clay Township Lions Club and Bertrand Bible Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, December 2nd at Bertrand Bible Church with interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
