NEW CARLISLE, IN - John lived in New Carlisle with his loving wife of 72 years, Mary Jane Porogi who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Carol Kahlmorgan; his son, John Porogi; two grandchildren, Heather Trobaugh and Nicole Porogi; and five great-grandchildren, William Aberegg, Isaac Porogi, Hannah Aberegg, Nevaeh Trobaugh, and Royce Johnson. John was a World War II Army Veteran who received the Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster and a Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars. Published in South Bend Tribune on Aug. 25, 2019

BAREFOOT BAY, Fla. Celebrating their 60th anniversary are Jane and John Porogi of Barefoot Bay. John J. Porogi and Mary Jane Arndt married Sept. 25, 1948, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, South Bend. They have two children, Carol Kahlmorgan of South Bend and John D. of New Carlisle. They also have two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Porogi, a South Bend native, retired in 1987 from Clay Township Civic & Democratic Club, South Bend, and in 2006 from Publix. He lived in South Bend for more than 60 years, and Mrs. Porogi lived in South Bend for more than 50 years.
