SOUTH BEND - Irene Pearl Lyczynski, 87, died December 29, 2012, of natural causes with her son Jim at her side. She was born on July 27, 1925, to Jim and Bernice Hickey. She was married for 54 years to Clem Lyczynski, who preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Bernice (Kay) Pankiewicz, who died in 1995. Kay had 3 children, Christina, Edward and John. She is survived by three children, Bob Lyczynski and Barbara Duvernay, both of Sidell, Louisiana, and Jim Lyczynski of South Bend, Indiana. My mother had many wonderful grandchildren. There are two women who deserve honorable mention - my daughter, Rose Verstraete, and her mother, Diane. They graciously stepped forward to help me with the care of my mother. Thanks girls! My mom found a similar spirit in my dad, which created a passionate love and magical optimism in the family.
