Martina L. CackowskiDecember 28, 1922 - February 8, 2007 Martina Louise Cackowski, 84, of Mishawaka passed away on Thursday, February 8 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka after an illness. Martina was born on December 28, 1922, in Argos, Indiana as the daughter of August and Molvina (DeRoo) Speybroeck. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Clarice "Chee Chee" Gerstbauer and a brother Morris Speybroeck. On May 16, 1942 at St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, as the former Martina Speybroeck she married John F. Cackowski who preceded her in death on October 19, 1991. Surviving Martina are two sons, Frank J. (Sharen) Cackowski of Mishawaka and Dennis F. Cackowski of Naples, FL; three grandchildren; fJennifer (Jim) Langner of Bellevue, NE; Brad of Richmond, IN and Susan Dick of Indianapolis: three great grandchildren; Jake, Justin and Jordan Langner; two sisters, Rachel Schafer and Lorraine (Harry) Van Vooren and a brother, Cyril (Marylee) Speybroeck all of Mishawaka. Martina was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church. She worked at the West End Bakery for 15 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Martina will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11, from 2 to 6 p.m., with Wake prayers at 4 p.m., in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 12, in St. Bavo Catholic Church with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family requests that in lieu of flowers Memorial contributions be made to St Bavo Catholic School, Mishawaka, Moran Elementary School, Osceola or Humane Society of St. Joseph County.
