MISHAWAKA - Marilyn Andrzejewski, 82, died Tuesday in Sanctuary at Holy Cross, South Bend. She is survived by children, Carolyn Wilson formerly of Mishawaka, Philip Andrzejewski of Mishawaka & David Andrzejewski of Dallas, TX; and a brother, Robert Handshaw. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday in St. Monica Catholic Church, South Bend, time to be announced. Friends may visit from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Thursday in the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, South Bend.

MISHAWAKA - Marilyn Joyce (Handshaw) Andrzejewski, 82, residing in Mishawaka, passed away at 12:22 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2011, in the Sanctuary at Holy Cross, South Bend, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on September 6, 1928, in Kalamazoo, MI, to the late Glenn and Marguerite (English) Handshaw. Marilyn graduated from Niles High School in 1946 and St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1949. On July 15, 1950, in Niles, MI, she married Edward J. Andrzejewski, who preceded her in death on April 27, 2003. Marilyn was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Christ Child Society, and was past president of the F.O.P. Ladies Auxiliary. She retired as a registered nurse from the University of Notre Dame's Health Center. Marilyn is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Wilson, formerly of Mishawaka; two sons, David (Jeanne) Andrzejewski of Frisco, TX, and Philip (Adrian) Andrzejewski of Mishawaka; six grandchildren, Taryn (Thomas) Hagedorn of South Bend, Bret (Lynn) Wilson of Charlotte, NC, Nicholas (Devan) Andrzejewski of Indianapolis, IN, Nicole (Robert) O'Hara of Mishawaka, Emily Andrzejewski of Mishawaka and Corey (Nicholas) Saad of Omaha, NE. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Zachary and Seth Hagedorn, Grace, Ryne and Addison O'Hara, and Haley and Braylon Wilson; as well as one brother, Robert (Trish) Handshaw of Benton Harbor, MI. In addition to her parents and husband, Edward, Marilyn was also preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Hoban. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, in St. Monica's Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Avenue, Mishawaka. Graveside services and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. today, May 26, in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, as well as one hour prior to Mass on Friday in church.
