Ralph Bartels Jr., 88, of South Bend, passed away at 5:04 A.M. Monday, October 26, 2020 at Memorial Hospital. Ralph was born September 29, 1932 in Mishawaka, IN to the late Ralph and Eleanor Bartels Sr. Ralph served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War while stationed in Germany. Ralph retired from Bendix as a supervisor in the brake division. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, playing Bingo and loved his pets. Ralph was a member of Knights of Columbus, BK Club and St. Pius X Catholic Church. On September 4, 1973, Ralph married the former Virginia Kershner who passed away in 2009. He is survived by his three daughters: Sonya (Tom) Jenlinski, Sylvia (Brian) Elias and Cindy Moss. Ralph is also survived by three stepsons: Geroge (Barbara) Kershener, David Kershner, and Kevin Kershner, one sister Jenny Tracksler, 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kemp, a brother Herman “Butch” Bartels and one grandchild, Kenny Moss. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
