SOUTH BEND - Ronald J. Toppel, 81, of South Bend, IN passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Briarcliff Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. He was born October 26, 1934 in South Bend, an only child of Matthew & Frances (Wisniewski) Toppel, and has remained a lifelong resident of this community. On July 12, 1958 at St. Anthony dePadua Catholic Church, Ron was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Seach. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley along with his daughter, Terri (Mark) Roberts of South Bend; three sons, Timothy (Catherine) Toppel of South Bend, Thomas (Kelly) Toppel and Matthew (Jessica) Toppel, both of Granger, IN; and three grandchildren, Peyton Emily Toppel, Taylor Ann Roberts and Ryan Christopher Toppel. Mr. Toppel retired as a Quality Control Supervisor from the Bendix Corp. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Ron loved to go fishing, Notre Dame football, and the Chicago White Sox. No services are planned, and Ron's wishes to be cremated will be honored. Contributions in memory of Ron Toppel may be offered to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
