Frances A. Toppel of South Bend, Ind., passed away early Wednesday morning, Dec. 18, in her residence. Mrs. Toppel was a lifelong area resident. On April 2, 1933, in South Bend, as Frances A. Wisniewski, she married Matthew M. Toppel, who preceded her in death in April, 1970. She is survived by her son, Ronald J. Toppel of South Bend; four grandchildren, Terri Roberts, Timothy, Thomas and Matthew Toppel; two great-grandchldren, Peyton Toppel and Taylor Ann Roberts; and two sisters, Clara Rydynski of South Bend and Eleanor Ryden of Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Toppel retired from the Studebaker Corporation in 1964 after 37 years of employment. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, in Holy Cross Church, with Rev. Michael Belinski, C.S.C., officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish vigil will be held at 4 p.m. SBT 12/20/1996
