On Nov. 11. 1890, Damazy, aka Thomas, Makielski, son of Francis Makielski, married Helena Laskowski, daughter of Constantine Laskowski, at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. According to the 1900 census, they were living in Chicago. Thomas had immigrated in the early 1870s. They had two daughters, Anna and Cornelia. Damazy died in 1904, and about 1905, Helena married Peter Mroczkiewicz. According to the 1910 census, Peter, Helena, and her two daughters from her first marriage were living in Chicago. It was his first marriage and her second. He had immigrated in the late 1870s and she in the early in the 1870s. She had had four children, two living.
