NEW CARLISLE - Frank Vida Jr., 82, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Miller's Merry Manor in New Carlisle, IN. He was born on February 23, 1933, to the late Frank Sr. and Dorothy (Ellsworth) Vida in Lydick, IN, and was a lifelong resident of New Carlisle. Along with his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Demetrius Anderson. Frank worked as a Machinist Mechanic for Buchanan Metal Form / Clark in Buchanan, MI, from 1964 1987. He retired in 2001 from Curtis Products in South Bend, IN, where he worked from 1987 2001. On August 3, 1958, he married Mary Kalber in New Carlisle, IN. She passed away on April 5, 1999. Frank is survived by his daughters, Tina Kalber of South Bend, IN, Theresa (Brian) Rowe of New Carlisle, IN, Barbara Vida of South Bend, IN, Dorothy (Isaac Kelly) Vida of Houston, TX; a son, Michael (Kim) Vida of New Carlisle, IN; grandchildren, Bridgette Moran, Natasha Blake, Cory and Helena Kalber, Anna Doms, Jason, Nikki, Amanda, Michael, Jr., Melissa and Seunghye Vida; 30 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grand-children; and his sister, June (John) Smith of New Carlisle, IN. Frank graduated in 1952 from New Carlisle High School. He was a handyman and could fix anything. Frank loved farming, had a wide circle of friends, and collected guns and beer cans. Visitation will take place from 2-8 p.m. (South Bend Time) Friday, November 20, 2015, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, IN. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. (South Bend Time) Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, New Carlisle, IN.
