South Bend - Ludwig E. "Louis" Pipke, 86, of St. Joseph's Care Center West, died at 11:40 p.m. Saturday at the nursing home. Mr. Pipke retired from Gates Chevrolet as a metal finisher. He was born Jan. 30, 1905, in Saskatchewan. In 1927, he married Ruth M., who died July 22, 1990. He is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Lupa of Granger; five sons, Richard, Harold, and Bruce, all of South Bend, Allen of Toma, Wis., and William of Mishawaka; 18 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wanda Houghtaling of Prince George, British Columbia. A son, James, preceded him in death. He was a member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home and one hour before
