Rose Mary (Poglese) Fisher
October 26, 1933 ~ November 9, 2021 (age 88)
Rose Mary Fisher, of Mishawaka, passed away at StoryPoint Senior Living in Granger on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at the age of 88. She was born on October 26, 1933, in Pickford, Michigan to the late Carl and Lenora (Scarfone) Poglese. On July 30, 1955, Rose married Richard Lee Fisher at River Park United Methodist Church.
Rose was raised on a farm in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Upon graduating high school, Rose moved to Mishawaka where she became a lifelong resident. Working at Uniroyal, she met her future husband, Richard. Rose found great joy being a homemaker, raising her children, and becoming involved in the community through organizations like the PTA and Camp Fire. Rose enjoyed using her passions to provide for others. She was an avid gardener and shared the fruits of her labor through canned goods and serving food. Rose enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting to make items for her family, friends, and those in need.
Rose attended Tamarack United Methodist Church until it closed and then became a member of Osceola United Methodist Church where she was active in the women’s group and volunteered with Real Services. She was also a member of the VFW 360 Auxiliary. Rose’s greatest love was her family. Later in life, Rose found fulfillment in passing the skills she had honed to her children and grandchildren including how to crochet, knit, and cook family recipes. She passed on her love for pastimes such as cards, dice, table games, and coloring. Every grandchild has fond memories of her interacting with them as they slid down the hill in the snow. Rose is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Kurt) Swadener of McCordsville, IN and Linda (Robert) Kowalinski of Mishawaka, IN; her son, Richard A. (Loraine) Fisher of Osceola, IN; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, along with her sister, Joan (Raymond) Hansen of Cedarville, MI. Along with her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Richard who passed in 2012; her son, Bobby Fisher; and her sisters, Susan Poglese, Mary Warner, and Carmina Esson. Services for Rose will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021, Palmer Funeral Home-Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Friends may visit with the family
