New Carlisle--- F. Melvin Melady, 79, of 217 Dunn Road, died at 5 a.m. Monday in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after an illness. Mr. Melady was the former owner/operator of Mel's Citco Station at Hudson Lake, IN., for 25 years, and was also formerly employed at Michiana Regional Airport as a parking attendant, and at Bendix Woods Park. He was born April 2, 1915, in Momence, IL. And lived in New Carlisle for 75 years, coming from Illinois. On March 6, 1941, in New Carlisle, he married Sadie "Sally" Burton, she survives with a daughter, Barbara Kitchen of Fort Collins, CO.; a son, Robert of New Carlisle; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Graves, of Three Oaks, MI., and Jean Calvert, of Lafayette, IN.; and two brothers, Keith of Albuquerque, NM., and John of Lafayette. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 204, Terre Coupee, Order of Eastern Star, and American Legion Post 297. He was a veteran of World War II. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Olive Chapel United Methodist Church of Christ. Burial will be in New Carlisle Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kaniewski Funeral Home, New Carlisle, and one hour before service on Friday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
