From the SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE, Thursday, May 1, 1997:
SOUTH BEND - Elmer W. Howlett, 74, of Kenwood Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, at Memorial Hospital. He was born on Oct. 15, 1922, in Little Rock, Ark., and had lived in this area since 1945. He retired from Pittsburgh Plate and Glass Industries after 37 years of service. He was also an employee of Patricia Ann Florist. On Jan. 19, 1945, in South Bend, he married Ethel (Jane) Waggoner, who preceded him in death on July 8, 1995. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Spann and Barbara Jean Green. Mr. Howlett is survived by three sons, Dana (Jackie) Howlett, Charles (Sylvia) Howlett and Michael (Chris) Howlett, all of South Bend; two grandchildren, Danielle and Michael Aaron Howlett; a brother, Wesley Howlett of Little Rock, Ark., and by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Howlett was a veteran of World War II, and was a member of Teamsters Union 364. [Information submitted by Find A Grave contributor Patrik Louis #47964641]
