Sylvester Karbowski, 79, of 213 N. Huey St., died at 2:45 pm Wednesday in Osteopathic Hospital after an illness of three months. He was retired from the Studebaker Corp. He was born Oct. 5, 1893 in Hammond, Ind., and had lived here over 50 years, coming from Hammond. On May 1, 1917 in South Bend he married Helen Pawlak, who died in 1970. Surviving are two sons, Erwin and Bert, and a daughter, Mrs. Gloria Dombrowski, all of South Bend; six grandchildren; a brother, Bert of Mishawaka; and two sisters, Mrs. William Johnson of Illinois, and Mrs. James Zeher of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
