SOUTH BEND - Julius Tapolcai, 89, formerly of Huron Street, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 11:10 p.m. in the Milton Home. Julius was born on October 8, 1918, in South Bend, to the late Anton and Theresa (Farkas) Tapolcai Sr. He was also preceded in death by his four siblings, Joseph, Tony, Betty Hadrick and Ann Sostack. On July 5, 1947, he married Virginia Degucz, who survives along with their son, Thomas (Marsha) Tapolcai of South Bend; two grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Tapolcai of Marquette, MI, and Andrew Tapolcai of Scottsdale, AZ; and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Tapolcai. Julius was a parishioner of St. Casimir Catholic Church where he was involved with the Holy Name Society and Senior Citizens Club. He was a member of American Legion Post 357, William Penn Society, and was an usher at Notre Dame football games for 45 years. He retired from RACO in 1983 after 44 years of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir Catholic Church, 1308 W. Dunham St., South Bend, IN 46619. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. today in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, in St. Casimir Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. For those who are unable to attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
