Melissa Lynn Applegate, 52, of South Bend, Indiana passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. Melissa was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 11, 1970. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Rebecca Luchowski. She is also preceded in death by her father-in-law, William Applegate. On June 11, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada, she was united in marriage to Douglas Applegate, who survives. Along with her husband, she is survived by her mother-in-law, Sharon Applegate and her children, Tyler Michalski, Chad (Jessica) Applegate, Jamie (Josh) Linter, Austin Applegate, Kaitlyn Applegate; fourteen grandchildren; her sister, Kimmy (David) Stachurski; and her brother, James Luchowski. Melissa graduated from Washington High School in 1988. She was dedicated to her work as an underwriter for 22 years at Communitywide Federal Credit Union with a soft spot for all her auto dealers. Melissa had a passion for her fur babies, Elvis, Presley, Sophie, and Rockne. She was a huge Harry Potter and Michigan football Fan. She was also a very competitive dart player for over 20 years. Her newly found passion was crafting home décor on her online store, Bushas Creative Corner, which she named because of the love she had for all her grandbabies.Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. November 17, 2022, at Palmer Funeral Homes - River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN 46615.
