GRANGER - Katherine Kay Morfettas, 83, of Granger, died at 6:45 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2009, in Hospice House following a lengthy illness. Kay was born in 1925 in Chicago, IL, to the late Andrew and Anna (Andriopoulos) Morfettas, and had lived in the South Bend area since the 1950s. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Poulos, and by a great-niece, Amelia Moskolis. She is survived by two sisters, Bertha (James) Zeinis and Anna Moskolis, both of South Bend; one niece, Kathy St. John of Granger; three nephews, John (Jean) Poulos of Jensen Beach, FL, James (Susan) Moskolis of Granger and Sam Moskolis of South Bend; seven great-nieces and nephews, Louis J. (Valerie) Poulos, Becki (Doug) Franson, Andrew (Christina) Poulos, Nathaniel M. Moskolis, Alysia Moskolis, Gabriel Moskolis and Nicholas Moskolis; and two great-great-nieces, Rebecca Poulos and Lauren Franson. Kay retired as an executive secretary for the Metropolitan Sanitation District of Chicago after 15 years. She also worked for the Bendix Corporation in South Bend. She was a faithful member of St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church where she participated in the Good Samaritan Club of the church and was active in many facets of church life. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 2nd, in St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church, 52455 N. Ironwood Road, with Rev. George Konstantopoulos officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to the services. Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
