Larraine M. Yocum, 97 years old, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Yocum was born on October 26, 1924 in South Bend to the late Floyd and Cecelia (Kramer) O’Meara. She was the second born of fourteen children. Larraine has remained a lifelong resident of the South Bend area. On October 6, 1945 in South Bend, Larraine and James F. Yocum were united in marriage. Her husband unexpectedly preceded her in death on November 17, 1966. In addition, her two sons, Patrick D. and Thomas F. Yocum; her granddaughter, Alexandra; and her son-in-law, Henry Pankiw, all preceded her in death. Larraine was also preceded in death by nine siblings. Larraine retired in 1990 from RACO and was a member of Christ Child Society. Larraine is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia M. Pankiw of Mishawaka, IN; Christine M. (Michael) Vandenburg of Union, KY; and Melanie A. (Victor) Sulok of Granger; daughters-in-law, Pam Yocum of South Bend, and Mary Yocum of California; five grandchildren, Valerie (Scott) Berry, Rebecca (Jeff) Mitchell, Daniel (Alisha) Pankiw, Thomas Vandenburg, and Sarah Vandenburg; and nine great-grandchildren. Larraine is also survived by two sisters, Estelle Modjeski of Ann Arbor, MI, and Carolyn Schlundt of Indianapolis, IN; and two brothers, Herbert O’Meara of California, and James O’Meara of Indianapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 52473 SR 933, South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church prior to Mass. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, South Bend, is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Larraine M.
