Fred N. Wisniewski, residing at Morningside Nursing & Memory Care (formerly of W. Brook Street in South Bend) passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 4:31 pm at the age of 87. He was born on January 6, 1925 in South Bend to the late Joseph L. and Nellie (Noel) Wisniewski. He was a lifelong resident. Fred served in the U.S. Navy, after which he worked with his father Joseph L. Wisniewski at their own company, Cherry Brothers Sheet Metal Works until 1965. Fred worked at Studebaker's for a short time. He then went to work for Bendix until he retired. On June 15, 1946, in South Bend, he married Lucille Marie Kessick, a union which lasted 53 years. She preceded him in death on October 6, 1999. Fred is survived by four daughters, Peggylee Ann (Jim) Myers of South Bend; Diann M. (George) Berger of Mishawaka; Kathleen J. (Billy) Natynka of Mishawaka; and Karlon J. (Tom) Rozek of South Bend; a son Kenneth R. (Lynn) Wisniewski of Niles, MI; eleven grandchildren, Rebecca J Holliday of Fishers, IN; Pamela A. Seager of Three Rivers, MI; Scott P. Myers and Thomas F. Myers, both of South Bend; Tammi L. Wisniewski-Morgan of Carmel, IN; Joel A. Wisniewski of Chesterfield, MI; Jennifer M. Caldwell of South Bend; David J. Berger of Mishawaka; April M. Natynka of South Bend; Sammy Rozek of South Bend; eight great-grandchildren, Madison and Marissa Holiday; Brandon and Cassandra Seager; Kara Morgan; Collin, Kaitlyn, and Carley Caldwell; two sisters, Joann Sikorski and Jean Gruza of South Bend; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Riley of Wisconsin; and a brother-in-law, Delwyn Kessick of South Bend. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph L. Cherry Jr. of South Bend; and Art Wisniewski of Niles, Mi. Mr. Wisniewski was a member of Christ the KIng Catholic Parish and United Auto Workers Union Local #9. Fred was a diehard Chicago White Sox and Green Bay Packers fan. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN, where Military Services will be conducted.
