SOUTH BEND - James E. Michalski, 73, of South Bend, Indiana and Destin, Florida, passed away at 3:20 PM Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Signature Health Care, South Bend. Jim was born on February 7, 1940 in South Bend to the late Edward B. and Mavis (Kintzel) Michalski. He graduated from Washington-Clay High School, South Bend and Indiana University, Bloomington. Jim worked for over 20 years at South Bend Screw Products and in engineering with Honeywell for 18 years. He was a member of the Elks Club of Destin, FL and was a lifelong member of the NRA. Jim was preceded in death by his son, James Michalski; and by his son-in-law, Rick Lolmaugh. On September 28, 1990 in Las Vegas, NV he was united in marriage to Dianna (Stillson) Michalski, who survives. Jim and Dianna were married for 22 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Brandy Lolmaugh; 3 step-children, Sharna (Jeff) Harrod, Shane (Melissa) Chapman, Caleb (Elizabeth) Chapman; 3 step-children from a previous marriage, Dennis M. (Kim) Orosz, Erin K. Hooker, Marty S. Stein; 18 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Janet (Jack) Reardon and Mavis (John) Ebbert; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the staff at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and also the wonderful staff at Signature Health Care for their loving care shown to them and to James. A gathering celebrating the life of James E. Michalski will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 1:00 PM till 3:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
