SOUTH BEND - John J. Futterknecht (Jack Futter), 90, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at the Hearth at Juday Creek. Jack was born on February 8, 1927, in Mishawaka, IN, to late Otto J. and Marian (Person) Futterknecht. Jack married the former Eldona Burmeister on August 18, 1956, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Jack and Dona were married for 56 years. Dona passed away on May 19, 2013. Jack is also preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. James and Robert Futterknecht. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, including niece Judy Decker who was Jack and Dona's loving caregiver that developed a special bond together for the past 13 years. Jack served his country in United States Army receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. He continued his education after serving in the Army by graduating from University of New Mexico with a Bachelors Degree. Jack pursued his career by being the owner- operator of Carter and Futter Advertising INC. for many years. Jack and Dona were members of the Morris Park Country Club. Jack enjoyed playing cards and golf with his golfing buddies from the country club. There will be no visitation or service for Jack, the family is honoring his wishes to be cremated. Judy Decker would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Sylvanna Atallah and the caring staff of the Hearth of Juday Creek for the excellent care given to Jack while he was a resident there. Memorial contributions can be made in Jack's name to Harbor Light Hospice 1820 East Day Road Mishawaka, IN 46545. Bubb Funeral Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
