[N3860] David Lee Flowers
Jan. 8, 1942 - Nov. 9, 2011 SOUTH BEND - On November 9, 2011, the Lord softly whispered, David, My son, come to Me. The Flowers family of South Bend sadly announces the sudden but peaceful passing of David in his 70th year -- devoted and beloved husband of Ginger Jean (Sebok), proud and cherished father of Joseph Lee (Chicago) and Lisa Jean (South Bend), and caring son-in-law of Mrs. Bette Sebok, who resides with them. David will be sadly missed by his brother, Jerry Kwiatkowski, and family, his cousin, Wayne Superczynski, and family, and Aunt Ann VanOoteghem. He was predeceased by parents, Virginia and Mac VanOoteghem, several aunts, uncles, and cousins from the United States & Canada. David will be sorely missed by a host of family and friends, and lovingly remembered by all. Sgt. Flowers proudly served in the U.S. Armed Forces, 3rd Armored Division, Financial Office in Germany, 1961-1964. Upon returning to the United States he completed his education at Indiana University South Bend. Graduating with a degree in accounting in 1972, he married Ginger Jean Sebok on November 18th. After graduation he continued his accounting career with positions at the Ridge Company and Tepe's in South Bend. He retired from the City of Niles, Michigan, as their Finance Director / Treasurer in 2007. David was a faithful member of Saint Anthony de Padua Parish in South Bend, and a member of the Holy Name Society. Professionally, he belonged to many organizations including the Institute of Management Accountants, the National Association of Accountants, and was past President of the Michiana Credit Management Association, Inc. David was an avid gardener, enjoyed music, reading, and especially spending time with his family. His profound faith carried him through almost two years of cancer and ultimately a massive stroke suddenly taking his life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011, in St. Anthony de Padua Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. To send online condolences, please visit Kaniewski.com.
