SOUTH BEND - Delphine (Szymanski) Hoorinks, 85, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016 in St. Joseph Regional Center, Mishawaka Delphine was born on December 20, 1930 in Toledo, OH to Anthony and Julia (Fron) Wawrzyniec. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother James Lawrence Wawrzyniec.
As Delphine Szymanski, she raised her seven children alone prior to her marriage on September 3, 1977 to Alfonse “Fuzz” Hoorinks. He survives along with her children, Christine (David) Krueper of Lake Leelanau, MI, Donny (Terry) Szymanski of Granger, Catherine (Phillip) Wenger of Loveland, OH, Richard Szymanski of South Bend, Eddy Szymanski of Houston, TX, Robert Szymanski of South Bend and Cindy (Ron) Powell of Middlebury;18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; her step children, Gail (Don) Yandel of South Bend and Peggy (Tom) Buraczewski of Edwardsburg, MI; two step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren and a sister, Alice (Ted) Sobieralski of California. Delphine worked for Elks Lodge for 15 years and she retired from South Bend Freight in 1995 after 15 years. She was a previous member of Holy Cross Parish. Visitation will be on Monday, November 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, November 15 at 10:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger. Burial will follow Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
