MISHAWAKA - Howard Kurt Blume, 61, of Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 21, 2013, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Kurt was born February 17, 1952, in Mishawaka, a son of the late Howard and Sophia "Sally" (Lukowski) Blume. He grew up in Mishawaka and was a 1970 graduate of Marian High School. Kurt was employed many years in building maintenance with the Holladay Corporation. At one time he was a member of Knights of Columbus #1878. Kurt was a Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast and he enjoyed fishing. He liked keeping busy and was a very talented fix-it man. Kurt's surviving family includes his daughter, Shelley Blume of Florida; two sisters, Gina Blume of Mishawaka and Julie Lewandowski of Eau Claire, Michigan; a brother, Chris (Debbie) Blume of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Alexis, Cyrex, Brady, Deric and Tytan Daymont; his former wife, Karen Blume; and the mother of Shelley, Susan Gilmartin Lute. Following Kurt's wishes there will be no formal services or visitation. A Mass will be said in his honor at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of one's choice .
