SOUTH BEND - Leo C. Kwasneski, 86, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014, at Hamilton Grove in New Carlisle, IN. He was born on March 7, 1928, to the late Leo and Lottie Kwasneski in South Bend, IN. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dan Kwasneski, daughter, Elizabeth Mroczkiewicz, and brother and sister-in law, Robert and Margaret Hillebrand. Leo is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty, son, Michael (Kim) Kwasneski of Pt. St. Lucie, FL, daughter, Michele (Richard) Ennis of Rockledge, FL, son-in-law, Thomas Mroczkiewicz of South Bend, IN, and grandchildren, Tara, Eric and Sara, along with several nieces and nephews. Leo graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1946 and served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. Following his retirement after 20 years with the South Bend Police Department in 1970, he spent 13 years as Branch Manager for Brinks, Inc. Leo was a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of Police #36. He was a faithful and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in South Bend, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon and lunch at the church hall. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Hamilton Grove and the Center for Hospice Care. Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
