Gerald L. Charboneau, 80, Silver Bay, died Friday, Sept. 18, 1992. in Lake View Memorial Hospital, Two Harbors. He was born in White Earth, Minn., and grew up in Waubun, Minn., and Grand Forks, N.D. He worked for Great Northern Railroad for 16 years in Grand Forks and Evansville, Minn. He moved to Silver Bay in 1956 where he worked as an overhead crane operator at the former Reserve Mining Co., retiring in 1977. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in Okinawa, Iwo Jima and Korea. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Silver Bay. Survivors include his wife, Jerdis; a son, Gary of Martinsville, Ind.; two daughters, Geralyn Hoelzel of Sheldon, Iowa, and Julie Mockler of Duluth; two brothers, Matt of the Twin Cities area and Bill of Clovis, N.M.; a sister, Evenelle Aragon of North Hills, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Silver Bay. Burial will be in Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery, Beaver Bay Township. Arrangements are by Cavallin Funeral Home, Two Harbors.
