Brief Biography
Born June 24, 1922 in Ann Arbor, MI.Graduate of Lansing Central High School (1940), and MSU 1949 (Communications).Enlisted in the U.S.Army serving during World War II from 1942 to 1946
His business career included 18 years in the electronic media (WILS radio WILS-TV and WILX-TV), where he worked in several capacities from disc jockey to play-by-play MSU & high school football and basketball, later as manager of WILS Radio and program manager of WILX-TV Channel 10. Suggested the call letters when WILS applied for the first broadcast license for Channel 10.Hired the staff, constructed the studio in the old downtown hotel in Jackson and was the host for the going-on-the-air show.He next entered the political arena serving initially as program coordinator for the City of Lansing. Later he joined the administration of former Governor William G. Milliken serving as executive director of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, deputy director of the Department of Commerce and executive director of the Energy Administration.He joined the Detroit Edison Company in 1979 as director of state governmental affairs and chief lobbyist retiring in 1988 after which he joined the lobbying firm of Public Affairs Associates retiring from that position in October 1991. Served on nearly two dozen boards of public service agencies including 22 years as trustee of Lansing Community College.He is the only surviving member of the charter board of Trustees.
Has become an accomplished water color artist.Started painting at age 72 in 1994.
