Louis R. Studt, 81, of Oakland Ave., South Bend, left to be with the Lord at 8:00am Monday in his home, surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather (Poppy) and great grandfather. He was born August 13, 1928 in Quincy, Illinois to Elmer and Maude (Barkman) Studt who preceded him in death. On August 21st, 1950, he married the former Lois Thibideau in Michigan City, Indiana. She survives with four children, Debra (Rich) Joy, Nancy Brown, Bunnie (Greg) Joy and Raymond (Butch) Studt, all of South Bend. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Melissa de Ferbrache, Billy Jo Mow, Donald Brown, Amanda Christianson, Johnnel Livengood and Raymond "R.J." Studt. Six great grandchildren, Johnathon, Daniel and Jacob Mow, Joni and Richey de Ferbrache and Melliny Ann Chandler. Also surviving is a brother, Clarence (Pauline) Studt of Elkhart. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Studt was a longtime member of the Clay Democratic Club and also was a member of the Kentucky Colonels and was a lifetime member of the National Campers and Hikers Association. He was retired from South Bend Lathe in 1990 where he worked for many years as a maintenance worker. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday at Bubb Funeral Chapel. Officiating the services will be Pastor Reed Anderstrom. Burial will follow the services at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. Friends will be received from 4 until 8pm on Wednesday. Louie loved to camp with his family. He was a jack of all trades. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, South Bend or Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 W. Cleveland Road, South Bend, Indiana 46628.
