[N2736] SOUTH BEND - Albert Eugene Torok Sr., 83, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, in Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation, South Bend. He was born on November 23, 1926, in South Bend, IN, to Nicholas and Mary (Biro) Torok. On June 4, 1949, in St. Michael's Catholic Church, Plymouth, IN, he married Elizabeth E. (Guseilla) Torok. Mr. Torok is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth E. Torok; two daughters, Rosemary Torok of South Bend, IN, and Pattie (Charlie) Davis of Oak Grove, MO; son, Albert "J.R." (Irene) Torok of Corona, CA; and four grandchildre n. A brother, William Torok, preceded him in death. Mr. Torok was a lifelong area resident. He served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Torok was the owner/operator of Torok Construction, retiring in 1991 after 50-plus years. He was a member of American Legion #357 and the Holy Name Society. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2010, in St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami St., South Bend. Burial will take place at St. Michael Cemetery, Plymouth, IN. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. today, June 24, 2010, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, where a Rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. Contributions in memory of Albert E. Torok Sr. may be made to St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami St., South Bend, IN 46613; or to American Legion Post 357, 5414 W. Sample St., South Bend, IN 46619.
