SOUTH BEND - Louis D. Michalski, 83, of South Bend, passed away at 2:25 AM on Wednesday, April 17th at Hospice House of St. Joseph County after an extended illness. Louis was born on March 31, 1930 in South Bend, IN to Adam and Winifred (Berry) Michalski. He resided in the Michiana area his entire lifetime. Mr. Michalski retired from ARAMARK Uniform Services in 1994 after many years of service as a route salesman. He was also a barber for many years. On September 25th, 1957 in Bryan, Ohio, he married the former Donna R. Fulton, who survives. Louis is also survived by one daughter; Lori A. (Scott) Krempec of South Bend, IN; one son, Louis D. (Diana) Michalski, Jr. of Lawton, MI; two brothers, Richard Michalski of Houston, TX and William Michalski of New Port Richey, FL; and three grandchildren, Rebecca (Mike) Newport, Brian Michalski, and Lauren Krempec. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Adam "Mike" Michalski, in 1997. Mr. Michalski enjoyed golfing and he loved watching Notre Dame Football. He also loved being at Christie Lake and being with his family. He was a member of the American Legion Post 357, VFW Post 9820, and PNA #83. When I came to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me, I remember the love that we have shared and that will comfort thee Louis was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his loving family. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 19th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hanley and Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home located at West Ireland Road/State Road 23. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Jack Van Arsdell officiating. Burial will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery after cremation has taken place. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the Westside Church of Christ, located at 22987 Edison Rd., South Bend, IN 46628 or The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. located at 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN, 46637. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Michalski family.
