Judith K. Nelson, 78, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday February 28, 2017 at Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle.She was born in Elkhart, IN, to the late John and Dorothy (Shead) Modjeska on January 26, 1939. She survived by her three children, Leslie (Steve) Hora of New Carlisle, Jeffery Kring and Jamie (Karen) Kring, both of South Bend; four grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsey, Katy and Kim; six great-grandchildren, Eathen, Sophia and Claire and Colin, Ethan and Zoey; and by a brother, Ron Modjeska of Naples, FL. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon (Tiffiany) Hora. Judith worked as a hair dresser for over 40 years, before retiring in 2007. She enjoyed playing cards with her lady friends, was an avid Notre Dame Women's Basketball fan and loved boating, the sun and the lake. Per her wishes, there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday March 12, 2017 at the American Legion Post #297, 486 East Michigan Street, New Carlisle, IN.Kaniewski Funeral Homes, South Bend, is handling the arrangements.
