George “Jerry” Edward Gieracz, 67, passed away on Wednesday, August 12 in Hospice House in South Bend. George was born on December 15, 1947 in Wildflecken, Germany to Jerry and Pauline (Atamanuk) Gieracz. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry; and a brother, Edward. On March 27, 1982 in South Bend, he married the former Vesta Batson. Surviving are his mother, Pauline Gieracz; his loving wife, Vesta; sons, Michael (Laura) Gieracz of Germany and William Gieracz of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Summer and Isla and a sister, Mary Ann (Lou) Jackson of Niles, MI. George was an Electronics Technician and retired from Midwest Visual. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War. George was a member of DeAmici’s Club in Mishawaka.
Visitation is on Sunday, August 16, from 2 to 6 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 17 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Bauman officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Military Rites will be given by VFW Post 360/American Legion Post 161 Burial Team.
