Phillip Kumba Dead at 81. Mr. Phillip Kumba, a resident of this city for the past thirty-nine years, died at his home, 119 E. South street, at 2:00 o'clock yesterday morning. Death resulted from a complication of ailments incident to his advanced age of 81 years. The funeral services are to be held at St. Peter's church at 11:30 o'clock Saturday morning following the High Mass and will be conducted by Rev. Theodore Rohner. Interment will be in St. Peter's cemetery.
Mr. Kumba was a son of Phillip and Philipina Kumba and was born in the town of Randolph in Columbia county, November 12th, 1864. He grew to manhood there and on May 30th, 1903 [sic], was united in marriage with Johanna Haas. After forty-two years residence in the town of Randolph he removed to this city and made his home at the E. South street address since. While a resident of Columbia county he was engaged in farming and since residing in Beaver Dam he had been employed in various trades until his retirement because of his advanced years. Mrs. Kumba preceded her husband in death on March 18th, 1943, and he is survived by the following children: Sister M. Silveria, O.F.F., of Eagle River, Wis.; Mrs. William Gergen, Anna at home, Joseph Kumba and Mrs. Joe George, all of Beaver Dam. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren. Three children preceded him in death. Mr. Kumba was a member of St. Peter's congregation, of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin and of the St. Peter's Holy Name Society.
