Lafayette, IN - Patricia A. Vande Zande,89, formerly of South Bend, was called home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Wednesday May 30, 2018. Pat had been a resident of Digby Place in Lafayette since August of 2017. Pat was born April 6, 1929 in South Bend, IN to the late Paul & Clara (Kazmierczak) Wentland. On October 1, 1949, Pat married the love of her life, Eugene F. Vande Zande in St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church in South Bend; he preceded her in death on June 3, 2012. Survivors of Pat include her six children, Terry Cross (Virgil) of Tallahassee, FL., Mark (Michelle) of Wyoming, MI., Kay Fry (Charlie-deceased) and Kathy Kempner both of Anderson, IN, Paul (Vickie) of Delphi, IN., and Lisa Zimmerman (Jim) of Oxford, IN; along with 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Pat was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Norb’s Grocery Wholesalers in South Bend, retiring in 1984. Pat came out of retirement to serve as secretary and receptionist for her home parish of Holy Family Catholic Church in South Bend. She retired for the second time in 1996. Pat served her church faithfully in many other capacities and sang in choir for many years. Pat was a generous and loving spirit that extended to large family, having hosted and cooked for many family Christmas dinners, gatherings, and family reunions throughout her life. Visitation for Pat will held Monday, June 4, 2018 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Rosary to be prayed at 4:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am, Tuesday, June 5, 2018 in Holy Family Catholic Church with a visitation 1hour prior to the Mass at 9:00am in the Msgr. Galic Room in the church. Graveside services will follow to Highland Cemetery.
