Joseph Sipocz Sr., 83, of 5110 Greenleaf Lane, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Hospital after a three month illness. He was a retired security guard at the Studebaker Corp. Born on May 23, 1892 in Kapuvar Megye, Hungary, he had lived here 68 years, coming from Hungary. On Sept. 25, 1915, in Racine, Wis. he married Julia Elles, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Irene S. Lyczynski, at home; two sons, Joseph Jr. of Mishawaka and Richard of South Bend; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Rev. Phillip Corbett, assistant pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. by members of the St. Ann's Society of the church. Sipocz was a retired member at Local 5 United Auto Workers. Published in the South Bend Tribune; Tuesday, Jan 13, 1976.
