Joseph S. Sipocz
Feb. 27, 1918 - March 28, 2015

MISHAWAKA - Joseph S. Sipocz, 97, passed away at 7:00 am Saturday, March 28, 2015, in the Sunset House. Joseph was born on February 27, 1918, in Racine, WI, to Joseph and Julia (Alis) Sipocz. He was a caretaker for the Oliver Estate and also worked security for St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka. Joseph was a World War II Army veteran whose hobbies included gardening, model airplanes and target practice. On October 5, 1946, in South Bend, he married the former Barbara M. Orosz. She died on August 12, 1977. Joseph was also preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Sipocz; sister, Irene Lyczynski; and brother, Richard Sipocz. Surviving are a daughter, Christine (John) West of Zephyrhills, FL; son, Gordon (Joanne) Sipocz of Mishawaka; 6 grandchildren, Johnny West Jr., Kristie West, Honey Stern, Holly West, Matthew Sipocz and Daniel Sipocz, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 31, 2015, in St. Matthew Cathedral. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7 Monday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice.
