SOUTH BEND - Jerri Omega Pawlak, 76, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014 surrounded by her loving family while passing in her residence. Jerri was born September 13, 1937 in Nebo, Kentucky to the late Fred and Ethel (Ryan) Yates. On June 28, 1958 Jerri married Ronald Pawlak , they were happily married for 55 years before Ronald's passing on September 25, 2013. Jerri is also preceded in death by her, brothers, Fred (Uncle Junior) Yates, Guy Yates, Sammy Yates and sister Joann Wingett. Survivors of Jerri included her twin daughters, Theresa (Greg) Dewald, and Tammy Ricci all of South Bend; sons, Ronald "Butch" (Melanie) Pawlak of West Hills, CA. and Randy (Michelle) Pawlak of South Bend; grandchildren, Jena, Garrett, Anthony, Ross, Lily, Jordan, Kristin, Hope and Sean; great-grandchild, Carson; sister, Mary Jane Hoffman; brother, Cecil (Pete) Yates; and many nieces and nephews. Jerri retired in 1999 from the Raco Corporation after 25 years of service. She was a graduate of Riley High School and a member of Riley's Dreamer Club. She always enjoyed meeting her friends at the Dew Drop Inn once a month. Jerri looked forward to Sunday lunches with her family; taking everyone to Bonnie Doon, and spending time at the lake cottage. Her pets and especially Lucky held a special place in her heart. She was a very fun loving, caring person; her family meant the world to her. Jerri was a big Elvis fan, she enjoyed his music. Visitation for Jerri will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, January 13, 2014 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 4:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in Holy Family Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Heart Land Hospice, 826 W. Edison Avenue, South Bend, IN 46545 or Alzheimer's & Dementia Services, 922 E. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617.
