Norma Jean Wisser
nee Galasso
March 1, 1945 - June 1, 2021
Granger - Norma Jean Wisser was born on March 1,1945 to Anthony and Francis (Balatore) Galasso in Elkhart IN. Norma grew up with her brother John, and sisters Joan, Bernice and Anna. She grew up in Elkhart and attended St. Vincent De Paul grade school, and then moved, attending Penn High School where she graduated in 1963. During her senior year she met William "Bill" Wisser who had graduated Penn in 1961. They wed on June 27, 1964 and were married for 53 years before Bill's passing in 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony (1972) & Francis (1994); son, Matthew (who passed away at 3 months after birth), and was always remembered and loved. Her sister Anna (2012) and brother John (2015).
Norma is survived by her sons, Steven (Dalila) & Rodney (Jessica); grandchildren Steven, Joshua, Cody, Mia, Vincent, Silas, Vincent, Royce; great-grandchildren, Stefan and Joey. Throughout Norma's life you could always find her deeply involved in her sons’ sports, and school programs, and a very devoted wife to Bill. They were always there to serve a meal for a child, having birthday parties, or give an encouraging word to a down and out youngster that would stay with them as a stepping stone their whole life. Norma's work career started in the 1960's when she graduated from Vogue Beauty School where she spent the last part of the 1960's and all of the 1970's as a Beautician. Norma also spent time at Sears Roebuck for 10 years, Martins Supermarkets for 10 years, and her last 7 years working at the Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore in 2012. Norma was a devoted Catholic as she and Bill were part of the community at St. Pius Church since the early 1980's. I could always find my Mom sitting on the recliner reading the Bible or prayer books during the night time hours or cooking an amazing Italian dinner. Visitation times for Norma will follow . In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to CROWD FUNDING through the SJFH website. If you would like to make a donation in memory of Norma Jean Wisser, please visit the Tribute Fund.
